Moldova Energy and Biomass Project empowers women in the green energy market development
Starting with 2013, UNDP Moldova within the Moldova Energy and Biomass Project is implementing the provisions of the “Gender Mainstreaming Action Plan”, developed as result of the in-depth analysis of the project’s gender equity through the gender perspective. Below, are some of the key results in 2018 with regards to the promotion of gender equality and mainstreaming gender in project activities.
Women trained in green energy
In order to promote expansion of renewable energy at local level a total of 41 trainings were conducted. Trainings aimed at enhancing capacities of representatives of local government, civil servants, managers, biomass boiler operators, agricultural enterprises and entrepreneurs intending to produce biomass fuel, current biomass fuel suppliers, students and women entrepreneurs in (i) resource mobilization, (ii) participatory monitoring and evaluation of biomass heating projects and (iii) management and implementation of biomass projects.
